Travellers And Brolin (one)
Two Travellers discuss and try to define how belonging to an ethnic minority can be decided, using the filmmaker as an example - is he a Traveller or not? Richard Magito Brun and Rose-Marie Wallengren are both members of the Travellers cultural association in Sweden, and are activists working on disseminating information on how the Swedish state has persecuted the Traveller minority. In this film, they move back and forth across the shifting border separating one ethnic group from other ethnicities - can you marry into, be adopted into, immigrate into, or apply for acceptance into this group? Bloodline and culture, in what combination?
Travellers and Brolin (two)
Two Travellers discuss and try to define the nature and the importance of their cultural heritage. Fritz Rosendahl is chairman of the Travellers cultural association in Sweden, and is an activist working on disseminating information on how the Swedish state has persecuted the Traveller minority. Oscar Hederlig is his grandson. In this film, they get into topics such as: What is the nature of Traveller culture? How do different generations relate to their cultural heritage as Travellers? In what way has the persecution aimed at Travellers affected their culture?
A newspaper article, written by the filmmaker and dealing with the same questions, can be found at goteborgsfria.nu/artikel/92993 (it's in Swedish).
